Ride a Water Rollercoaster at the Wild Wadi Water Park
Excerpt from Love and Rocket Attacks - When I found out that I was staying in Dubai for another day, I jumped into a cab and headed to the Wild Wadi Water Park for a day of fun. I had watched a documentary before going to Dubai about the construction of the water park.
It explained how the engineers invented new techniques to build a water rollercoaster designed to push people on tubes up waterslides, then drop them down through tunnels before depositing them into a lazy river. When rich Arabs decide to build something they go to the extreme. This was the Mac Daddy of all water parks and I couldn’t wait to experience it for myself. While waiting in line to buy an entrance ticket, I read a sign listing the park’s rules. One of the rules was to dress modestly, as it was a Muslim country. I was more than a little concerned that their idea of modestly and my idea of modesty were not the same. Would my bikini be modest enough for the people who ran the water park? When I made it through the gate and noticed other women in bikinis I breathed in a huge sigh of relief. I was amazed by the diversity of the crowd and their unique tastes in swimwear. People wore everything from bikinis, tank tops and shorts to blue jeans and Abaya’s. I only had 2 hours to play before I had to return to the hotel for another meeting so I skipped visiting Jemeirah Sceirah, the huge super-wedgy-making speed slide and headed straight for the Master Blasters. I hopped on a tube and a surge of water blasted me uphill onto the water rollercoaster where I went through the Tunnel of Doom and the Wadi Twister. The rush of water turned my bikini bottoms into a g-string forcing me to make a minor adjustment before heading to the next ride. Thank God I wasn’t a famous actress with the paparazzi following me! |

Wikipedia - The Wild Wadi Water Park is an outdoor water park in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Situated in the area of Jumeirah, next to the Burj Al Arab and the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, the water park is operated by Jumeirah International, a Dubai-based hotelier. Wild Wadi has a heated/cooled wave pool, multiple water slides and two artificial surfing machines. In addition, the park had the largest water slide outside of North America, but recently it was removed to make space for two other rides . Another feature of the park is an 18 m (59 ft) waterfall that goes off every ten minutes. The water park also has two gift shops, three restaurants and two snack stands. It was featured in The Amazing Race 5 and The Amazing Race Asia 1, in which teams had to slide down a 21 m (69 ft) drop. It was later featured in The Amazing Race Australia 2, but instead, the teams had to the Surf Machine and use boogie boards to surf their way to the end where they will get their next clue
