Ride a Water Rollercoaster at the Wild Wadi Water Park

Picture
Excerpt from Love and Rocket Attacks - When I found out that I was staying in Dubai for another day, I jumped into a cab and headed to the Wild Wadi Water Park for a day of fun.  I had watched a documentary before going to Dubai about the construction of the water park.
It explained how the engineers invented new techniques to build a water rollercoaster designed to push people on tubes up waterslides, then drop them down through tunnels before depositing them into a lazy river.
When rich Arabs decide to build something they go to the extreme. This was the Mac Daddy of all water parks and I couldn’t wait to experience it for myself. While waiting in line to buy an entrance ticket, I read a sign listing the park’s rules.  One of the rules was to dress modestly, as it was a Muslim country.  I was more than a little concerned that their idea of modestly and my idea of modesty were not the same.  Would my bikini be modest enough for the people who ran the water park?   When I made it through the gate and noticed other women in bikinis I breathed in a huge sigh of   relief.  I was amazed by the diversity of the crowd and their unique tastes in swimwear. People wore everything from bikinis, tank tops and shorts to blue jeans and Abaya’s. I only had 2 hours to play before I had to return to the hotel for another meeting so I skipped visiting Jemeirah Sceirah, the huge super-wedgy-making speed slide and headed straight for the Master Blasters.
I hopped on a tube and a surge of water blasted me uphill onto the water rollercoaster where I went through the Tunnel of Doom and the Wadi Twister. The rush of water turned my bikini bottoms into a g-string forcing me to make a minor adjustment before heading to the next ride.
Thank God I wasn’t a famous actress with the paparazzi following me!

Some of Their Most Extreme Rides Include...

Tantrum Alley
Wild Wadi's latest addition!  Tantrum Alley incorporates two large sections of downhill waterslides and three exciting tornadoes. Guests seated on a four-person tube will travel downhill to enter the first tornado where they slide back and forth several times, then circle around and around in the eye of the storm before exiting and hitting the second tornado, after which they splash out into the pool.  The new rides are the first in the world to push thrill seekers’ to the limit through the incorporation of three funnels!

Master Blasters
Get ready for a series of high-powered water jets to take you on an aquatic roller coaster ride. The Master Blaster rides are gravity-defying rides that rocket guest up to 15 meters above ground level which starts off either in White Water Wadi or Flood River Flyer. The other Master Blasters are Flying Falls, Falaj Fury, Jebel Lookout, Wadi Leap, Hos'N Hurler, Falcon Fury, Thunder Rapids, Rushing Rapids, Wadi Twister, Wadi Basher, Tumble Falls and the Tunnel of Doom.

Burj Surj
Enjoy one of Dubai's best view from Burj Surj! Burj Surj consists of two large sections of downhill waterslides and the looming ‘Bowl’.Guests are seated on a tube, travelling downhill to the bowl, where they are hurtled into a 1st and a 2nd spiraling spin and then dropped into the slide, ending with a screaming splash in the pool.

Wikipedia - The Wild Wadi Water Park is an outdoor water park in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Situated in the area of Jumeirah, next to the Burj Al Arab and the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, the water park is operated by Jumeirah International, a Dubai-based hotelier. Wild Wadi has a heated/cooled wave pool, multiple water slides and two artificial surfing machines. In addition, the park had the largest water slide outside of North America, but recently it was removed to make space for two other rides . Another feature of the park is an 18 m (59 ft) waterfall that goes off every ten minutes. The water park also has two gift shops, three restaurants and two snack stands. It was featured in The Amazing Race 5 and The Amazing Race Asia 1, in which teams had to slide down a 21 m (69 ft) drop. It was later featured in The Amazing Race Australia 2, but instead, the teams had to the Surf Machine and use boogie boards to surf their way to the end where they will get their next clue
