Teresa the Traveler's Turkey Travel Tips
1. Don't go to a budget Turkish Bath, they can be pretty sketchy, spend the money and go to a nice tourist one.
2. The Turkish Government blocks YouTube, so if you were planning to upload your videos on your channel to share with friends during your trip you may want to make other arrangements.
3. If a well spoken local gentleman approaches you at a historical site and wants to be your friend and show you around Istanbul, he is probably a carpet salesman wanting to show you his carpet shop. Once you get lured into a carpet shop it is very difficult to leave. Have an exit plan before ever entering one.
4. You can book all of your excursions through a travel agent before you get to the area, but if you want to save money you pay about half if you book the excursion directly or through your hotel once you reach the area.
5. If you want to get a good sleep, never book a hotel room near a moque as the call to prayer is loudly broadcasted over the speakers 5 times a day starting at dawn. However, if you like to wake up early and forgot to pack an alarm clock, then by all means find accomodations close to a mosque.
6. The price of hotel rooms are often negotiable up to half of the posted rates.
