Make a Wish at the Wishing Bridge in Jaffa
If spending the day on the beautiful beaches of Tel Aviv isn't your dream come true, head over to the Wishing Bridge in Jaffa. Jaffa is located in Tel Aviv - the second largest city in Israel. While Jerusalem is the political hub of the country Tel Aviv is the financial hub. Tel Aviv was founded in 1909 on the outskirts of the Arab port city of Jaffa by a group of Jews who got together and purchased 12 acres of land. Their goal was to create a Hebrew urban center, planned according to the rules of aesthetics and modern hygiene. Tel Aviv and Jaffa eventually merged into a single municipality in 1950. A 30-minute walk along the beach from Tel Aviv will bring you to the historical city of Jaffa which is home to Jews, Christians andMuslims. Archaeological evidence shows that Jaffa, a city mentioned four times in the Bible, was inhabited in 7,500 BCE and the natural harbor has been in use since the Bronze Age. The old part of the city has been restored and turned into a tourist attraction featuring art galleries, theatres, souvenir shops, cafes and restaurants. There is also a Wishing Bridge that promises your wish will come true if you place your hand on your zodiac sign (which are located on bronze plaques along the bridge) and make a wish while overlooking the sea .
