Get Your Groove on at a Las Vegas Pool Party
There is no better way to experience Las Vegas than a Vegas pool party. Some of the best parties take place at Wet Republic at the MGM Grand, Rehab at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Palms Pool and Dayclub at the Palms Hotel and Casino and Marquee Dayclub at the Cosmopolitan.
When my buddy Carolyn and I visited Vegas in the spring of 2014, we stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel and found ourselves spending the day at one hell-of-a pool party. Wanting to have the full-on experience, we decided to rent a bed. One of the pool hosts showed us the beds and cabanas for rent and they started at $500 and went up from there. Yes that seems expensive for a bed near a pool but the price isn't for the bed, the bed is for free with a minimum alcohol and food purchase of $500. How much does $500 buy you? Well we got a bottle of vodka and ten beer for $550, which included mix and 8 plastic Rehab drink bottles. But that's not the real kicker...this price does not include the mandatory 40% gratuities automatically added to your bill making it now $750 for a bed, 10 beers and a bottle of vodka with mix. To offset the cost, beds are usually rented by groups, I think they allow up to ten in one group. It is also possible to just buy a pool ticket for around $20-$40 and pull up a towel on the sandy beach or find a perch on the side of the pool. Once you get over the absorbent cost and get some beer and vodka in you, it is impossible not to get your groove on. While the DJ spins a great assortment of dance music, the crowd dances in the pool, some walk around being posers, some prance around in silly costumes and everyone soaks up the desert sun from 10am to 7pm when the party shuts down. |
