Wikipedia  - Hungary is a landlocked country in Central Europe.  The country's capital, and largest city, is Budapest. Hungary is a member of the European Union, NATO, the OECD, the Visegrád Group, and is a Schengen state. The official language is Hungarian, also known as Magyar, which is part of the Finno-Ugric group and is the most widely spoken non-Indo-European language in the European Union.

1. It has also been called the City of Spas, as there are a dozen thermal baths complexes served by over a hundred natural thermal springs.
2. In 1989 the Hungarian people demonstrated on the Chain Bridge for freedom and independence and since then the bridge has become a symbol of Hungarian liberty.
 3. Budapest was at one time the second capital of the Austria-Hungary Empire.
4. Budapest has a number of sister cities including Berlin and Tel-Aviv.
5. The city is home to a number of universities including University of Jewish Studies, Fran-Liszt Academy of Music and Pazmany Peter Catholic University.
6. The Szechenyi Medicinal Bath in City Park is the largest medicinal bath in Europe and is supplied by two thermal springs.
7. The right hand of King Saint Stephen, the founder of Hungary, is on display at Saint Stephen’s Basilica.
8. There are three islands – Óbuda Island, Margaret Island and Csepel Island – and nine bridges, two of which carry railway lines
9. The Hungarian State Opera House built between 1875 and 1884 is considered to be amongst the first opera houses in the world.
10. A large percent of Budapest’s Jewish population was killed by the Nazis during World War II but despite this tragedy the city has the highest number of Jewish people per capita than any other European city.
